  10. Prof. Earl Schweppe now at the University of Kansas (formerly at 
  11. the University of Maryland) suggested the name "deque" (he 
  12. pronounces it "deck") to Don Knuth.  Knuth credits Schweppe in his 
  13. book for the name.  (See p. 458 of Knuth's Volume I).

  15. (Actually, when Prof Schweppe told me the story behind "deque" I 
  16. didn't believe him until I saw it in Knuth's book.)
