- Prof. Earl Schweppe now at the University of Kansas (formerly at
- the University of Maryland) suggested the name "deque" (he
- pronounces it "deck") to Don Knuth. Knuth credits Schweppe in his
- book for the name. (See p. 458 of Knuth's Volume I).

- (Actually, when Prof Schweppe told me the story behind "deque" I
- didn't believe him until I saw it in Knuth's book.)
